May 14, 2020
The class of 2020 has been on my heart ever since we realized that COVID-19 would be ending the school year for seniors across the country. All of the memories of my final semester at UGA came flooding back to me when I read online that students were sent home so abruptly in March and not allowed back to campus. Graduating high school or college or a higher-level graduate program is such a major accomplishment and the ceremonies (however boring) are an important occasion in the life of a graduate.
I was so happy when Leigh Ann emailed me about taking her daughter, Jessie’s, graduation photos. I photographed Leigh Ann’s older daughter, Allie’s, wedding last year in Chattanooga and we just loved spending time with this sweet family! It’s always so meaningful when we get to continue capturing special memories for past clients.
Jessie graduated from UGA this May with a degree in Nutritional Sciences and she is beginning an accelerated nursing program at Clemson in the Fall! (This gave us lots to talk about during her session!) North Campus wasn’t totally picture-ready for her session – the chapel bell is gone, the fountain was drained, and the field was bare dirt. But it also wasn’t covered in droves of people like it typically is on graduation week, so we were still able to have a wonderful and fun photoshoot. Jessie looked stunning in her cap and gown and I’m glad she got the chance to dress up and wear them!
Congratulations, Jessie, and keep up the hard work in the Fall! The world needs more smart and kind nurses, and I know you will go far!
