It’s not every wedding that we find ourselves right in the middle of bustling downtown Atlanta, but that’s where we spent the day with Sheila and Michael! They held their wedding at the Georgian Terrace Hotel in Midtown, right across from the Fox Theater. The day was filled with elegant details, from Sheila’s hairpiece and gorgeous ring to the elaborate decorations of the ceremony Sofreh.
Sheila’s family is Persian, and Michael’s is American. The couple chose to have traditions from both cultures woven throughout their ceremony. Sheila’s mother designed the Sofreh, with intricate pieces made of food and flowers and decorations all representing different blessings for the couple’s future. Michael’s father officiated a traditional American portion of the ceremony, and a Persian officiant performed the Persian elements.
Sheila was stunning in her long veil. We loved taking her and Michael’s photos on the marble staircase in the Georgian Terrace. After the ceremony, we were able to take them out on the rooftop for some gorgeous skyline photos!
Our favorite part of the day was when the bridal party tore up the dance floor! The energy was high and the moves were impressive. Before the cake cutting, the bridesmaids all performed the “knife dance” for Michael, making him pay them cash in exchange for the knife.
It was a beautiful and eventful day and we’re so glad we got to capture it! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Barrett!
