Fall Mini Sessions // New City Fundraiser

Family, Portraits, Updates

September 19, 2018

Ah, the beginnings of fall in Georgia. The air is still hot and humid, the leaves are green, and our A/C bills are still running rampant. But we faithfully pull out our sweaters, trade our sandals for booties, put soup in the crockpot and sip on pumpkin spice lattes, because we know that Fall is not a season – it’s a way of life.

As a photographer, Fall is not just a way of life – it’s the height of our business. While we are riding the wave of Fall wedding season – the most popular season for weddings in the south – we start getting loads of inquiries about family portraits. Last year, Evan and I were so swamped with weddings that we couldn’t take on any family sessions, and it made me so sad! This year, though, we are so excited to once again host a round of Mini Sessions! The family inquiries are beginning to trickle in, and several people have asked about getting a few “quick” photos done before Christmas. If you’re in that camp, then this opportunity is for you!

This is the only time all year that we offer any kind of photography session for under $400 and we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to work with us! By hosting a “marathon” day, we are able to do several small sessions back to back and keep our prices low for you.

This year, we have decided to donate all of the proceeds from our Mini Sessions towards our church, New City Church. Evan and I spent a long time searching for a church when we got married and moved to Gwinnett County, and I am so so grateful that the Lord brought us to New City. We were hoping to just find a church that preaches the Gospel, and had some sense of community, but we never expected our lives to be so impacted and changed when we walked into the doors of Richards Middle School in January 2016. It didn’t look like much – the service took place in a middle school gym, with a temporary stage and a couple of black curtains. The people that were in that room, however, welcomed us more warmly and the pastor preached the Gospel more honestly than any of the big, beautiful churches we had visited each week for 8 months.

We still walk into that middle school gym each week and we have only fallen more in love with Christ and his people since that day. This community of believers has become family to us in the past few years – they have walked through life with us, inviting us to be real and broken and honest in our walk with the Lord and with them. This group of people also has an earnest and deep love for the city of Lawrenceville, and we in turn have fallen in love with our city and county as we’ve made this our home.

As a church, we are hoping to grow deeper roots by moving into a building of our own in the coming year. In doing so, we hope to establish ourselves deeper in the city – for the city. We’re grateful for Richards Middle School and the gym that’s held our worship for the past three years, but we want to be more accessible and more available to proclaim the gospel of grace to our city. We have found a building in downtown Lawrenceville that we believe will open up doors to serve our community and provide a permanent place to worship each week. We are prayerful that God will provide the funds we need to make this our home! To read more about the building plans and campaign, go here

Our church family has been so supportive and encouraging as we have built our business over the past few years, and we want to give back by holding this fundraising mini session! All of the session fees will go directly toward the building campaign which is ramping up this fall. We would love for you to join us in supporting our church by signing up for a spot and getting some photos for yourself and your family! These spots are open to whatever type of group you might like – family, couples, pets, or individual portraits of this season of your life! This is the perfect chance to get a Christmas card photo or updated family portrait without investing in a full-priced, hour-long session.
