We have been looking forward to Callie and Ross’s St. Simons wedding ever since we first met with Callie and her mom last fall. My own family grew up visiting Jekyll Island every year on Spring Break, and the spanish moss, bumpy bike paths, and southern marsh all feel like home to me. I was so excited when Callie told me her family grew up vacationing on St. Simons and she planned to get married at Epworth by the Sea!
This wedding day was everything I dreamed it would be! From the moment we pulled up to the gorgeous beach house Callie and her bridesmaids were getting ready in, we knew it was going to be a picture perfect day. The beachfront home looked fit for a magazine shoot, which was only made better by Callie’s 12-lady bride tribe, all decked out in various white dresses. Helped by her mother and sisters, Callie stepped into her own classic white wedding dress, borrowed from her older sister, who also got married on the island. The sisters carried on several shared traditions, including sipping on royal wedding tea, and it was so fun to see them celebrate their youngest sibling all day! I loved seeing Callie surrounded by so many loving women that morning, including her grandmother Nancy who surprised everyone by making the trip down. (Evan and I already had the pleasure of meeting her at her home for their engagement photos – you can see those here!)
Ross and his guys had their own fun down the street before he came over to the house to see his bride for the first time. From the moment he first laid eyes on her, Ross was overwhelmed with happy emotions. His family teased him a bit, but we personally love a groom who’s not afraid to cry! All my photography dreams came true as we stopped by the Avenue of Oaks for their bride + groom portraits – the giant oak trees with spanish moss glinting in the sun were showstopping and Callie and Ross looked like models beneath them!
The bride and groom’s guests squeezed into the little Lovely Lane Chapel at Epworth by the Sea before heading over to one of the BEST wedding receptions we’ve ever been to! We want to give a huge shout out to the Jon Michels Band who totally rocked the stage all night and kept the guests dancing and laughing and partying every minute of the night. We found ourselves laughing all night as fun and random party hats were passed out and swapped around by the wedding guests all night – I really hope this becomes a popular wedding trend!
The night wrapped up with a sparkler exit and a surprise guest, Aubie the Tiger, from Callie and Ross’s alma mater. Their faces were priceless when they came out and saw him!
We could not imagine a more perfect wedding day and are so grateful to have been a part of it all. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Gray!!
