Marisa and John are high school sweethearts and are such a fun couple to be around. Together, they are easy friends and I found myself lost in conversation at every meeting I had with Marisa, because she is such a great listener and encouraging person! I know John from my college years – his dad, Rob, was my pastor at Oconee Heights in Athens, and John and I went on a mission trip to Nicaragua once. I’m so glad I got the chance to get to know them better as a couple and capture their amazing wedding day!

This wedding at Summerour Studio was a photographer’s DREAM and I loved everything about this romantic venue – the neutral walls with lots of greenery and big windows made for a beautiful backdrop. The florals by Bowman and Clark tied all the details together beautifully.

It wasn’t just the setting and the details that made the day special, though. From the very beginning, the day was personal and sentimental and perfect for this couple. I smiled when Marisa and her bridesmaids “danced it out” Grey’s Anatomy style before putting on her dress. And when Marisa surprised her mom with an album of photos she had made while wearing her mom’s wedding dress (which was beautiful, by the way!).

Marisa and John shared a first look and let me take tons of portraits of them – their engagement session was one of my favorites, so I knew that their portrait time would be a breeze – and I was so surprised by how many beautiful spots there were around Summerour! We moved straight into the ceremony, which I’ve been looking forward to all year, ever since Marisa asked me for advice on having an “unplugged ceremony.” It made all the difference seeing people’s eyes on the couple and not on their screens.

To top it all off, the reception was one of the most entertaining that we’ve ever experienced (impressive for a Sunday wedding!) DJ Tod had so many fun games and dances that kept the guests on the dance floor until the very end of the night and we laughed and danced along with everyone all evening. The couple wrapped up the evening by hopping in a vintage Bentley to ride away: the perfect ending to the perfect day! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey! We are so happy for you and enjoyed every moment of your wedding day!
