I love proposals – who doesn’t?! A declaration of love so strong and so deep that you wish to commit your entire life to a relationship with another human being…it’s beautiful on so many levels. I always love to hear about how guys propose to their brides – it’s the one aspect of the engagement season that is fully in the control of the groom and every proposal is personal and unique in some way.
The only thing I love more than hearing proposal stories is CAPTURING them! Typically this means hiding in a bush or pretending to be a nature photographer until the guy hits his knee, but I was happy to play the part of photographer from the start at this happy proposal. Jay’s sister, Krishna, called me about doing a photoshoot for Jay and his girlfriend, Mukti, which would become a surprise proposal halfway through. Jay flew Mukti in all the way from Texas, set her up for a hair and makeup appointment, and met me at Piedmont Park for our extended photo shoot!
The first outfit featured traditional Indian outfits, which were oh so lovely and colorful. The couple then changed into formal evening attire and we found a nice open spot with a perfect view of the Atlanta skyline. We told Mukti that I had an idea for a picture of throwing rose petals, but when she turned around Jay was down on one knee! Jay’s family then came out from behind the trees to greet them, bearing signs with their (quickly approaching!) wedding date. We finished the session with a more casual theme at Centennial Olympic Park and sent them on their way to celebrate. I had so much fun helping Krishna and Jay plan for this moment and loved every second of it! Congrats and best wishes, Jay and Mukti!
