“Breathing in the highs and lows, we call it living.” -Switchfoot
Jon Foreman has always had a way of writing about life in a way that I can understand. I believe that if you always see life through rose-colored glasses, you are bound to miss out on so much of the beauty of dark nights and will never fully appreciate the hope that comes with the light of the morning sun.
I like to look for light in dark, which is what I usually write about. But as we wrap up 2012, a hard year in so many ways, I would love nothing more than to simply breathe in the highs and forget about the lows for just a moment. Because, frankly, this year has been incredible and I am ashamed to admit that all of my best moments have been regretfully overlooked, swept to the corner and forgotten.
So these are the highs of 2012:
January:
Passion 2012
February:
My first ever one-year anniversary!
I got accepted into Grady College of Journalism! And finally began a major: PR!
March:
I got the opportunity to be a DNow leader for Winterville Baptist.
Now I get to hang out with these girls every week!
BCM returned to New Orleans for some mission work.
April
I met these 6 people who would soon become the Benin 6 Mafia and my summer family.
And killed and ate my first-ever chicken.
May:
Saw the concert I’d been dreaming about since high school: Switchfoot AND The Rocket Summer!
May-July
Spent 6 of the most incredible weeks of my life in Benin, West Africa telling people about Jesus. Met these two incredible sisters and witnessed over 700 Beninese come to Christ!
My sister said yes to him! And I said yes to her 🙂
August:
Moved out of Lakeside and into our lovely new house in Woodsong.
Ran the Action Dash 5K with these lovely ladies. First in my age group?! (Glad I’m a year older than them!)
October:
My roomie, Leanna, and I became the first ladies to ride our bikes 300 miles to Jacksonville on Ride for Christ.
Andddd we beat Florida. Again. Dawgs on Top.
November:
To hell with Tech. We run this state.
December:
Another blessed Christmas with my family.
And ending the year where and with whom I began it. <3
The best part is that these are just a few of the highs of the year. 2012 was a full of blessing and love and happiness and one that I will remember with a smile! I can’t wait to see what’s on this post for next year!
