Graduation tonight. I feel like this is something I should blog about. I also feel like i got less than 2 hours of sleep last night and I have to be up and ready to go in approximately 2.5 hours. So i’m gonna put off the graduation blog and give a quick update on the mission trip.
We are going to Jamaica. The kids were evacuated from the Kingston campus this week, so we plan to fly into Kingston and then try to drive to the Montego Bay campus. Recently it was decided that the kids would return to school in kingston on Monday, so i’m hoping for a chance to go back. I have no idea what this trip has in store, but I am packed and ready to go. I’m ready to see what God has in store for our team and for the kids and people we will encounter in Jamaica. I pray for our safety, especially as we travel into Kinston, much more than that I pray that God’s will be done at any cost. I pray that we gain an eternal perspective on this trip, learning to reach out of our comfort zones and love with our actions.
There’s so much more I want to say, but I think sleep would be a good way to start this trip, so I’m gonna copy an excerpt from Max Lucado that Tracy included in our last team email:
The Voice of Adventure
“Those who try to keep their lives will lose them. But those who give up their lives will save them” – Jesus Christ in Luke 9:24
There is a rawness and a wonder to life. Pursue it. Hunt for it. Sell out to get it. Don’t listen to the whines of those who have settled for a second-rate life and want you to do the same so they won’t feel guilty. Your goal is not to live long; it’s to live.
Jesus says the options are clear. On one side there is the voice of safety. You can build a fire in the hearth, stay inside, and stay warm and dry and safe…
Or you can hear the voice of adventure-God’s adventure. Instead of building a fire in your hearth, build a fire in your heart. Follow God’s impulses. Adopt the child. Move overseas. Teach the class. Change careers. Run for office. Make a difference. Sure it isn’t safe, but what is?
I will be journaling this week. We appreciate your prayers!! Until next week,
love, Jenna.
