Day 7- Homecoming

Personal, Words

May 18, 2010

Flying out today. Unlike most trips I’ve been on, I’m not reluctant to go home. Usually on trips, especially mission trips, I would give anything to stay longer and I have little desird to return.

I’m ready to go home today. I suppose I miss my friends. And since we didn’t spend a ton of time with the Haitains, I never really became super attached to any children. Well except for Little Dude..he was awesome and really smart. I’m gonna miss him..a lot.

Usually I’m running away from something when I go on trips and every time I have to return to it. Even though I always know deep down I can’t run from myself and I could travel the whole world, but would never escape. But this is not the case here. I’m not running from anyone, or God, or even myself. And I am ready to run back to my friends waiting for me at home 🙂

Homecoming

Back to the Georiga sun
bring on the southern heat
Across many miles I have run
but the welcome home can’t be beat

I’m coming home, I’m coming back
are you still there to take me back?
I’ve been gone for far too long
I think it’s time to come back home
Can my heart still find it’s home in you?

I left you with a picture
and a few words for good measure
Was that enough for you to cling to
or am I returning still to miss you?

You left me with goodbye
will you greet me with hello?
Give me proof it wasn’t a lie
or a well performed show

I’m coming home, I’m coming back
are you still there to take me back?
I’ve been gone for far too long
I think it’s time to come back home
Can my heart still find it’s home in you?

Back to the Georgia sun
bring on the southern heat
Across many miles I’ve run
now it’s you I run to meet
It’s you I want to see.
